Who has actual experience with buying a car out of state that has a bank lien on it? Not looking for opinions, just facts please.
Questions.
1. How do you get a plate to drive the car home? (my guess is you have to pay for a T Plate for that state and then pay for another plate in your home state)
2. If you want to buy the car the same day as looking at it (6 hour drive to where I'm going, don't want to do it twice if possible) If the bank "owns" the title, can it be transferred to me on the spot after paying off its loan? Do the banks have the actual title at the bank? Can they be signed over to the new owner? My main concern is that I drive 6+ hours to buy a car and I can't get a title because of the lien. I'm not paying off someone else's car and not getting a title.
3. What paperwork do you need for transferring the title to PA? (Bill of sale, title, insurance, etc..)
4. What am i forgetting? What are any other "gotchas" ?
