    This is badass I've always wanted to build one of these but the rare factor puts them out of my price range lol. What's it going in?

    Thanks. As of right now, the plan is to put it in my 54 Willys Aero Gasser.

    It made 369 at 5700 and was still significantly climbing. Since it is still being broken in and they aren’t real high-revving motors to begin with, the builder didn’t want to push it too far just yet. He thinks it should make a conservative 390+ at about 6200. The dual carbs are probably too much for it also, but they look cool. He thought it would pick up another 15-20HP with a single-4.

    Thanks. These have always been my favorite Hot Rod motors and I’ve wanted one since I can remember. I do everything on a budget and honestly this wasn’t as bad as you probably think. I actually had more in my last 406 SBC that I had built.

    [QUOTE=somethingclever;396923]Torque?

    It it has a pretty flat curve... was over 300 at 3600, topped out at 345 at 4100, and was still over 300 through 5700rpms.

    Engine specs?

    Its a street motor... only 8.5:1 compression, bored .030 over, Isky solid roller cam, factory 2x4 intake with (2) 600 Edelbrocks

    Thanks guys... it should be a fun little ride. The car was built in the early 70s and has been pretty much untouched since. It currently has a mild SBC with a turbo 350 and a Corvair front end (common upgrade back then). I picked it up in December and have only done a few maintenance items to make it road worthy for this summer. This winter I’ll be dropping in the motor, adding a set of fenderwell headers, putting in a Muncie 4 speed and going to convert it to a straight axle. At only about 2600lbs, it should be a quick and fun little ride. The guy that built the motor thinks it should be a low 12, high 11 second ride.

    Going fast in old stuff is a HOOT! 100 feels like 160! Today’s cars really spoil us.

    Exactly... I got a handful of old cars (pre 1961) that all run 12s or quicker and they are a blast to drive. Don’t get me wrong, our new Hellcat is a beast, but I would much rather drive one of “slower” Hot Rods.
