My hooptey 89 camaro clicked off an 11.68 @ 115 which is my personal best with the car. Managed a 1.5 60 foot one time before I grenaded the rear end. It was a fun time for sure.

Even If I could tag a stab at the fuel, if it made much more power its going to drive through what's left of the clutch. Car was put away running and I'm very happy with what it's done all season. I have said numerous times I don't really care if it ever goes 9.99 other than to say it's been done. My safety stuff is good to 10.00 and I've gone there.
How much boost you cranking on this beast to get down there? I believe the limitation to this engine is the head design, correct? Cant force enough air through it?

This weekend was 36# .... turbo is sized to go 40#, but with really good air and more boost it would be risky to turn it up further. I logged a 10.20 pass and fuel was still safe, but moved above my target line.

The head is surely a dinosaur, and mine is a ported factory head. The guys going much faster than me are all on aftermarket aluminum heads. There are a lot of issues with those, and it's a choice we need to make between a 60's designed port and chamber versus a slightly better port and chamber in a head made of peanut butter (soft aluminum). The aftermarket heads was made for NA applications (circle track stuff) and are a pain to seal at my cylinder pressures.

The limitations are many, the head is old design, single heavy valves with only so much room for lift and spring pressure, limited how far we can go on cam blanks, etc ... then there is the self inflicted stuff like a header made of schedule 40 pipe ells, etc.

Broadly, it's an old design, low reving package that's just stout enough to take abuse.

Are you tuned yet? I just finished up a protune with Brian @ jst performance on my RS. I would definitely recommend him if you're looking for a tuner.

Lots of cool cars at the rental. I only got to watch from the tower. Anyone get pics or more vids to share? I dig AMCs, bad quality pic from up in my little box behind the computer
