Most everything I race is in some way bracket racing ...

the 10.50 index stuff is bracket racing where they set the dial in

the bulk of what I plan to race this year is UMTR stick stuff, also bracket racing

even True Street is in a lot of ways index racing trying to put the car on their number.

nothing new except adding a dial in board

its a work in progress, but showing some signs of going to be wonderful (only 4 passes in).

1st pass it was way too loose, slipped all gears and never got close to lockup. (Aborted and went 11.47)
    Added base and counter
2nd pass it was still way too loose but better (abort and went 11.47, saw ET despite very different pass)
    Added more base
3rd pass showed promise, 60’ was real soft (1.45) but went down under power to 10.36@135
Added more base again, but also added 100 rpm to launch to try to bring counter in sooner. Car went 10.27@136 with still a weak 1.43 60’

all of this was with what I call my “10.50” tuneup. This went high 10.30’s low 10.40 in Kentucky in similar air

so 4 passes in we made progress. After getting home and really looking at data the clutch never got close to RPM in 1st, struggled in 2nd, and was better in 3rd and finally locked up in 4th. I’m actually amazed it ran what it did for as bad as it was. After looking at data and talking with Cale I have added a spring to my clutch fork and added more counterweight for next time out. It’s feeling like the base pressure is in the right neighborhood.

At some level I wasn’t sure if the TOB was clearing the PP fingers early to let the counter weight work so added the spring.

the car never turned a tire, was straight as a string, shifted clean, and surprised me to run what it did with the tune up that was in it. All good things there, just need to get at it early as I was looking to gain 60’ and it’s still way soft down there.

In all the data, I was most surprised it went 6.53@108 in the 1/8th. I can’t believe it ran that as bad as 1st 2 gears was.

lots of optimism now, that likely means epic failure of some kind next time out with my luck. I sure have learned a lot about these clutches already.

Still working on the clutch tuneup ...

took ok a bit of a swing at counterweight to start last night and went too far. Car didn’t want to shift clean 1st pass so we took 1 gram off each lever and that cleaned up for next pass, but still a touch too much slip early. Added a touch more base and got a fairly clean pass in the 10-teens ... left it alone other than another 100 rpm in the launch(yes, more rpm) and it ended up as a slightly better new best pass (just a few thousandths). For the 8th pass on this new set up I pretty darned happy. Now that it’s in the ballpark we can start fine tuning.
