    1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom

A what? 356's are dear to my heart, but never did I see a 356 limo. This one is coming to auction in Oho on Sept 28. Link>

I also attached 2 photos of my 356 autocross only car in 1973. It was a 1959 Conv D, the last of the Speedster bodies, but with roll up windows. This car was gutted though, race only. 912 motor, Goodyear race slicks on widened Porsche steel wheels, you can guess the the rest. FTD overall trophy last time out before I sold it. It was a blast, a really quick go cart. The one photo shows two numbers, I also entered it for a friend and this is him driving.

I got a chance to drive the oldest unrestored Speedster in the world a few years ago. Same retired dentist had an exceedingly well-maintained 356C. He’s had both cars since 1970 or so. I drove gently and it was thrilling. 82 year old him gave me a thrill ride through the north Georgia mountains in the 356C I hope to never forget. Your D was everything they were supposed to be. That limousine is as wrong as it is long.

You're a lucky guy! If I had the means I'd own another 356 in a heartbeat. And "... wrong as it is long", LOL. No, I wouldn't be bidding on that one. Curious piece though. A 1953 356 would have between 40 and 70 stock horsepower, not exactly more than a 2 people mover.

I attached another photo of my 356. I bought this car from a USAF Major and his wife in Key West, FL. I fled there with a new girlfriend after getting divorced from my first wife. It was as far as we could go! Believe it or not, Key West had a serious sports car club- Ecurie Vitesse. Lots of car came in on trailers to run some of these events. Witness the 2016 Bay Bottom Crawl-

HANG ON Other years are posted up too.

Major Hess and his wife (same, still) are back in Big Pine Key and running an H Production Sprite in SCCA events. Must be 80+ by now. So he's living the life, good for him.
