    Hello. It's been a while.

    Hello.

It's been a while. Most of you probably know but some don't.... I traded the C7 for a Tesla Model 3 Performance back in September. The C7 made 617rwhp/575rwtq right before I got rid of it, while it was a fun car for the 4 years I owned it, I never really loved it.

The Model 3 Performance is the top tier model of the Model 3, it's AWD (Via independent dual motors) and comes with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on 20" wheels, bigger brakes, lower suspension, a carbon fiber spoiler, track mode and has an advertised range of 310 miles. In the time I have owned it, it's gotten a 5% power increase via an over the air software update. With the latest update the car has been tested to run 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and mid 11's in the 1/4 mile, hoping to make it to whatever track rental ends up happening. It will take over as my primary Autocross vehicle as well. I also had Prestige Auto Armor wrap the front bumper, hood, front fenders, bottoms of doors and behind the rear wheels in XPEL, going to ceramic coat it in the Spring.

    Let the hate flow.

LOL!!! Welcome back courtesy of Dan!

I’m a fossil fuel kinda guy, but I can appreciate the technology and respect the performance of the Tesla. That’s a gorgeous blue too.

lol thanks. I've gotten some shit about the change and constantly hear how electric cars aren't any better for the environment etc.... however the thing they miss is.... I didn't buy it for that reason. I'm a nerd and tech guy through and through and obviously love performance vehicles. There may be an internal combustion car that I buy after this one... there may not be, who knows. The blue was the only non boring color they had IMO (not a red guy), looking forward to correcting and ceramic coating it in the spring. I put 2600 miles on it from 9/27-11/30, I couldn't stop driving it. It's currently in the garage for the winter since I didn't want to buy winter wheels/tires.

I'm really hoping the flashlight drags still happen this year, I think this thing would be a monster there.

What did it do in the 1/8th?

Faster than I would have expected.

So what does one do for performance upgrades to these?

Tesla has increased power and torque by 5% twice since the car was released. These come as free over the air updates that you install just like an OS update for your phone. Otherwise theres no "power" upgrade you can do... but lots of suspension parts are being made like coilovers and sway bars.

This is the quickest timeslip someone has produced for a Model 3 Performance so far.

Thanks man. She scoots for sure, does this every time, every condition I’ve tested it in, it’s a riot. This was also recorded before the last 5% power increase.

So do you know how they do this? Do the motors run some kind of VFD and they adjust the ramping function or max torque output?

Anyone in this arena installing larger motors?

Nope. Couple weeks before I got rid of it the balancer bolt backed out and sprayed oil everywhere. When we took it apart we found it was because the "professional" shop that installed it used too many ugga duggas on the balancer bolt and cracked the washer allowing the bolt to gradually work its way out. I pulled everything at that point and sold the kit to a buddy.

Love it. I had a Model S as a service loaner, not a performance unfortunately. Great car but after driving a 3 it seems outdated inside and in need of an interior refresh.
