    emissions testing with supercharger/no cats

just wondering what you guys are doing for emissions testing. purchased a 08 challenger with a blower, longtubes, and catless midpipes and haven't brought it home yet. I am assuming the tune that's on the car has the sensors turned off because there is no check engine light. but from what I have heard the obd emissions testing will read whether the oxygen sensors are on or not and fail if they aren't active. so is there any way to get an Allegheny obd emissions test done? or is it going to be a nightmare and put the exhaust back to stock to do so?

I would think there are plenty of supercharged catless cars running around Allegheny county.

I only put a deposit down on car and can back out if this is going to become a major headache. the car comes with all the factory exhaust but swapping headers, mid pipes and catbacks twice isn't something I could do nor want to pay $1000 just for a stupid sticker....

this would be new to me......in the past with rear 02's off I never had any issues with passing emissions.

They just changed the program and the machines. They check alot more now than they used to, but I don't know what they do with that information. I do not know if the car would fail under the new program. With the old program as long as the monitors were ready or not applicable the car would pass. In other words you could tune the car to see the downstream oxygen sensors as not applicable and the car would pass even though every OBDII car has downstream O2's on it. I saw a Z28 that had the cats and downstream 02's ready all the time. I don't know if you can get the tuned that way or not. Many other states never let that fly. I don't know if the new program fails that or not. It could in the future even if it does not now. Still no visual on emissions county OBDII cars, all though I would not be one bit shocked if they started it. I don't know if this is a toy or a DD for you, but you get it tested before you buy it and just stay under the 5000 miles for the year. With the way these late model cars run you really don't gain much by removing the emissions stuff. When I had my Mach 1 it actually slowed down with the cats removed.

Along with being under 5,000 miles, it also has to have been 365 days since the last one.

Just don't get it inspected. I've put 20K plus miles on my hellcat without ever having an inspection sticker on it. I have gotten a ticket on other vehicles and it's less than what you'd pay for two inspections, so if you make it a couple years you're ahead of the game

Is this a 5.7 or 6.1? The stock 6.1 or 6.4 manifolds are basically shorty headers and are pretty efficient and are a great upgrade on a blown 5.7. So if you're not planning on running leaded race fuel just find some stock manifolds and mid pipes and problem solved. I had a complete 6.4 Scat Pack exhaust on my Procharged RT and it worked great.

Getting it inspected before you transfer it to your name won't help you. After a title transfer, the emission test must pass the first test the car is in your name. After that, the 5k mile exemption applies.

You are allowed to have 1 "not ready" reading in your obd emission test. You can check emission readiness with an obd Bluetooth tool.

I don't know who told you you have to pass the first test with the car in your name, but they are not correct. If some-one told you that it is wrong. If you own the car for a year and have less than 5000 miles in a year you are exempt.

I did not say anything about you personally. I have been doing emissions testing in Allegheny county since the 80's. I know the law.
