    New Green Truck

Compared to 40 yr newer trucks:

    Accel is poor
    Decel is poor
    Steering is light
    Fuel mileage is terrible
    Price was good

    Means - perfect for me.

Stumbled across this F100 and couldn't say no since the price was very friendly and the truck is well done.

4 yr frame off resto by a very particular retired fellow.....

I have had about 10 different trucks over the years...mostly Dentsides and a couple OBS trucks....this one is the nicest for sure. A/C is ice cold and original radio is perfect. I am the third owner.

Already bought a 3" drop kit for the rear and a few other misc things to install....just need some vaca time.

Plan is wheels/tires, level rear, remove the funky green tint, refresh some small items.....and probably sell it next year......

Here are a few pic's that the PO sent me....truck looks the same at the moment...He restored it 15 yrs ago.

    Oh I care about MPG's all right - but I don't need a truck everyday...usually about 2k miles/yr.

New trucks are just too expensive and want to do the driving for you......blah

Below is the lowes run truck......

Going to start a thread soon on operation 1964.5 DD....hoping for 20+ highway with a carb...should be pretty easy depending on my cam choice.

I guess you sold your white crew cab? I saw one of them a few years ago when I bought the mig from you - just can’t remember if it was a CC or a super cab.

Nice little truck John. I'm sure with a few little changes you'll make some money on it. That white truck is awesome!

Thanks Troy - it has a crate 351M (335 series).

It seems pretty torquey (relatively speaking)...guessing it has a straight up cam timing set instead of the factory 4 deg retarded set.

Rear axle is 3L50 on 29" tires and T18 4-speed.

There is/was a TKO 500 on C-list i have to keep looking away from.....

Yeah, prices seem to be all over the place. I'd like to buy something a little cleaner than my 73 to start a build off of but everything seems to be either compete junk for $5-$10K or something somewhat nice for $25K and up. Not much in between

Hey Frank - yes I have thought about dream beams....probably what I would do if I knew for sure I was keeping it.

While the crown vic swap brings other benefits to the table, for the limited amount I would actually drive the truck, the effort is not justified.

My new 3 season DD starting this summer should be my 64.5 Mustang coupe so it leaves this F100 in an odd spot for steady usage.....aka my wife would have to say she wants to keep it for herself...LOL

Thanks Ron.....as for the crew cab...I did sell it....market really continued nuts on dent crews....I haven't even paid much attn on it for a while once pretty rough examples were hitting mid-upper teens. Restored trucks doing 30k+ last I looked.

The vic swap is definatly cool and the way to go on the bunps and dents. I would be hesitant to go through it if i werent going to keep the truck however. I think Troy has done it?
The beams are a decent price (for what you get and what they accomplish) and easy to swap out.
I picked myself up a regular cab shortbed bullnose over the summer and i think the beams are in its future for this winter. I think its a little more involved to do the vic swap under a 80 and newer frame. Ultimatly id like to be able to tuck the 20s i put on the truck and not have awful camber issues.

Also.... I never want to live in a world where i have to have a real reason or justify having or keeping a vehicle. I vote you keep it! Lol

Agree the dream beams are cheap for what they provide.....not sure how many places will bend factory beams anymore?

I would first check with island leaf and spring just in case they do it. (they have a Greensburg store as well)

Im not totally sure on that. Iv read of people doing it bit it sounds like its an old school thing and has gone by the wayside.
I think the plan going into this with mine is beams and a set of the 2" Belltech drop springs. Should put me around 5" drop in the front and ride decent. The camber issues in the front of these are real!! Lol
