    paypal question

My friend swears that once a buyer buys something via paypal they could dispute the item, and seller would be forced to pay the buyer back w/o getting the item back.

Bottom line...I'm selling an R/C car to some chap in Toronto, and it kinda seems fishy...My thoughts are once it hits my paypal I'm golden. US funds of course.

    Thoughts? Concerns?

to get money back to have to open a claim, then you have to wait 7days for the other party to respond, then you can open to a dispuite, which takes 30 days for paypal to decide weather you get your money back or not..

if they find in your favor then yes buyer's paypal account will be frozen and you money will be refunded

that sounds like the route to go.

as for the fishy part. he offered to pay more for the car...he wanted to use paypal, so he offered to pay the 4% service fee or whatever. that on top of the numerous emails...just seems kinda weird. maybe its me, but id hate to get burned.

    thanks guys.

If he offered to pay more for the car it's probably a scam.

Is he using the email addy that is listed with ebay/paypal or another one?

I think the US money order is the way to go....you can tell him that it would save him the fees of paypal, and you will have more peace of mind. money clears, then send goods!
