    State Police Warnings

What is the policy (from your experience) with warnings? I was stopped by the state police today for my window tint (owned the car for 4 years and someone finally stops me)... he must have been really bored, b/c the tint on my car isn't dark at all. He tested it and it came up 36%. He only wrote out a warning and said "typically, we ask that you take the tint off, and take it to the local barracks and show an officer that it was taken off" ... he almost said it in a way like "this is the law, but if you dont feel like doing it, whatever"...

so i ask you, what is the policy here? should i just ignore it, actually tear the tint off?

I say Screw 'em Bish. Let them come knocking on your door about window tint. Barracade yourself in your house and call the local news and tell them what the state police are wasting their time and our tax dollars on.
I have been warned, with no paper...why I asked.

well i wont' be seeing HIM again... b/c i was on my way back from Ohio on 422, in Mercer County... and i'm never up that way....

i probably will just ignore it... like i said, i've owned the car for 4 years.... the tint is like the lightest $hit you can buy ... and this is the first time someone said anything about it...

I got a warning on my Saturn one day on my way to college. I just let it go, and 4 year later I got pulled over and they made me bring the car back to the station and prove that I removed it. I removed it and got signed off on and put it back on the week after :) I'd let it go!!

I have really dark tint on the Lincoln, 20%. I have been ticketed twice, both times its been $107 and change. Paid them both. I figure its my fee for privacy, its also been on almost 3 years. The first cop said he pulled me over because they just bought a new testing device and have been cracking down(trying to pay for it). Second cop was from Bethel, he was a plain old ass about it. Said that I was posing a risk to officers with the tint that dark...if i'm not doing anything else wrong, how can I pose a risk if they don't have to pull me over? All about the benjamins. Cop stated on the ticket I was wearing my seatbelt when he walked up, also stated that the tint was "totally blacked out". If it was that dark how could he have seen my seatbelt on when he walked up, with the window up? I didn't have my seatbelt on BTW. As far as the warning, I don't know if it is just disregarded at the station, or if it is in "limbo" until the warning is taken care of. I would think its just disregarded in hopes that you take it off then show up at a station to prove it. Have yet to see a cop "look up" a warning and say "oh I see you have taken care of that"

    tint

roll something up in that paper and smoke it, the cops seem to have no time to catch real criminals, my neighbors a crack smoking thief who gets aways with all sorts of crap( I thinks shes a nark) but they mess with you for tint? really though get your doctor to give you a prescription for it you send it to penn dot they send you a card stating it to be medically just and then no matter what any peace officer says they are powerless to make you remove it and cant fine you for having it. it works for me, try it

Did he just give u a warning? Or did he give u a warning with a limit on removing the tint, and you HAVE to goto the station to show them you removed it? If it was a warning, with no strings, dont worry, if it was a warning and u have to take it off, then you will get a ticket in the mail if you dont take it off.

But, it does go on your record if it was written down. Trust me, I know, I got my MDR or whatever that thing is, my driving record, it has my TINT TICKET listed on it.

If you are in PA, just ignore it. If you where breaking the law you would have had a ticket.

Usually when they issue a written warning, it means you have 10 days to remove the tint and take it to a local police station to show that the tint has been removed and have an officer sign off on it. If you fail to do so, the warning will be changed to a ticket.

well, if it would turn into a ticket, i'd fight it....
i just searched through the PA code, and nowhere can i find where it says that 70% light must be let through (that's what the officer said the law was)... its very vague, only saying that you can't have a sunscreening device that does not allow someone to see or view inside of the car....
    never gives an exact specification...
