well back at work....interview went good.... they interviewing 6 of 50+, then calling back two next week.

i am nervous though...cause of the coaching job....id have to leave 5- days 1 hour early....for bus trips, but i was upfront and honest....should know something by friday.....we didnt discuss wage yet so that could still be a factor.

    Are you kidding me?????

You are interviewing for a career, not a hobby. Unless you plan on becoming the next Dean Smith, your focus should be on securing a stable employment position with good pay and benefits, not worrying about catching the bus with Little Suzy Smith to go to the Beckley Regional whatever tourtament. :loco:

You more than likely just cost yourself any chance of landing that job. If I was conducting that interview, that would be a clear cut sign as to where your priorities lie.

Bottom line is all that an employer truly cares about is how you are going to help their bottom line. If you think an employer actually thinks all that extra BS lookg good on a resume, I've got some Oceanfront Property In Arizona for you!

    or is it useful criticism???

Just trying to help you out!!!

well sorry, but ive already committed to coaching this year and i will not let the team/players/parents down and leave them coachless 3 weeks before season. and actually they were cool about it...one guy coached himself...and the other guys daughter playes for one of the teams we play.... if i fvcked myself...then whatever....but im not the type of person to back out on a commitment and leave an entire team coachless. if they dont see that....then forget it. had this interview came up last month there wouldnt be a thought otherwise...but we actually begin camp june 11th.

I think coaching and the like will not hurt you. There are other things that could hurt, but companies do like people that go above and beyond....they tend to get more out of them than what they are paying. I do special studies at work and coworkers think its just to impress the boss, but truth is I'll be looked at first when new higher positions are available. My dad did the same thing with his company. He now is working at home, is paid at least 5 times what all the other guys that started with him make (if they are still there...) and gets paid to travel around the world with my mom. It depends on what you are involved in I think. I agree with Ed, but I think it also depends on the company.

well no matter what im not the type to back out last minute of a commitment and leave 30 girls without a coach and a team.

go ahead and flame away....i know i dont have as good a job now as most of you...but i also hold onto my commitments.

That has nothing to do with it. You're obviously taking the time to tell us about these different interviews that you're going on and the fact that you hold onto youe commitments speaks well about your character, but the truth is, the majority of employers will care less. You're just a number to them regardless of what your preception may be. Unfortuantely you have to play the game and only tell them what they want to hear. Once you land the position is when you should really start to show the qualities you are made of.

It's just like everyone reading this right now could give a shit less. Most people don't like brutal honesty, they need everything to be sugarcoated. If you need any advice, anytime, you've got my number. Give me a shout anytime!

not. I think that anybody that could walk away from a commitment like that would be an a**hole. and that you are not. although Ed brought up the very good point of mentioning those things after you get the position. you will get where you need to go, it just takes persistance, which you are showing by continually going on these interviews. hang in there!

bet there are some jobs up here in pa for ya

+ 100000000. You should land the job before you start with this shit. You dont go to am interview looking for a future and say " I need to leave an hour early every day for another activity" That wont go over at all. I would say you can kiss that one good bye. You say you are not the type of person to leave something or bail out on something, what is it called that you are doing now? You are bailing out on your current employer. You ask me, thats the pot calling the kettle black.

ouch dude....thats fvkin brutal....my current employer has no inurance or benefits....but look at this too...ive turned down 4 jobs so far to stay with him, and i would of course give plenty of notice to train a replacement so he is not left high and dry.....and they also said they wanted to know up front....because they hate getting people in then finding out about other things...

    fvck me...gawd dammit.....

FWIW - i told them it would be 3-4 days max.
