He does well with his car. They are hard to beat on the track for the money. Miata's are very good track car's also. I have a friend that switched from a C5 corvette last year to a Spec Miata this year. They handle really well and still have rear wheel drive.
Those damn spec Maita's. We have built cages for 3 of those this year, and we have another coming monday. They pretty much define handling when you put a stiff cage in one. The only downside is they are so small, i can barely drive them around the parking lot because my knees hit the dash.

What about a 99-01 cobra with IRS.

I know 2 guys racing them that are around 6' 5" and 255#'s without much fat. They love the cars. I think one of the draws to spec Miata is the close racing. They are also allowed to bump draft in the straights.

6'5" ??? Low12Lightning is 6'3" 205 and has to squeeze his nuts together to sit down in a race seat that will fit those cars.

My 98 GT does really well in the autocross circuit. I was racing F stock and was pretty competative with the motified classes. Now that I lowered it and threw on some caster/camber plates and plan to add some strut bars, I can't wait to get back out on the track again. Anybody else here race autocross? Oh and btw I heard the Independant rear suspension cobras do really well on the autocross track. Friend of mine swapped his rear axle out of his gt for an independant rear suspension and raced it and it cornered way better.

Come out to MidOhio July 14/15 and I will introduce you to them. I haven't asked them how "things" fit in the seat but one of them has two children.

If you really want a hassle free track car, go with the BMW. But you can make a mustang a very good track car. But you have to be willing to do quite a bit of suspension work to make it safe to drive at 10/10ths. I had a 93 325is with a set of coilover's and brake pads, and on the same tire it wasn't much slower than my full suspension mustang that had probably 100 more horsepower. Almost even times autocrossing, but the mustang would destroy it on a road course, mostly just because of the power difference.

I think that for the money there are two cars that will shine on a road course: A C5 Z06 and a Miata.

I track a Mustang, but i guess you can track whatever :) .

My daily driver is a supercharged Miata and i'd love to take it to the track. i told my wife that i am not going to track it....but...well, i have lied before :D

    I autocross with Jethro.

    Last year, I ran this:

But I tore the frame all up from running Kumho Ecsta 710s. It's parked now while I build another Fairmont, and I'm borrowing this:

You can see more of the Camaro at www.zerotimeracing.com. That's the website for my friend's fledgling race team.
