Some people think they have a stiffer chasis. so many people race them that there are a lot of parts and aftermarket support. a good friend of mine races a 1990 325IS(E30 body). He does well with his car. They are hard to beat on the track for the money. Miata's are very good track car's also. I have a friend that switched from a C5 corvette last year to a Spec Miata this year. They handle really well and still have rear wheel drive.
Those damn spec Maita's. We have built cages for 3 of those this year, and we have another coming monday. They pretty much define handling when you put a stiff cage in one. The only downside is they are so small, i can barely drive them around the parking lot because my knees hit the dash.
