Thats aWesome, for real!! Those pics of Pittsburgh International Dragway. And the back ground and HISTORY of Nostalgicness at such a historic period from an airport on those links. I was lettin my Dad and my Uncle check out the PID(Cambell Airport) pics, aerial shots and video footage. And they couldn't believe it!
NASCAR-Drag Racing Division, NHRA events, Big Daddy Don Garlits @ PID. In late 60's to early to mid late 70's. Still just blows my mind!

Big Daddy and the gang would run at PID often. One Friday night late Garlits went over the top of the shut down into the woods, We just made a pass and were on the return road draining when water and rolling up the chute when Garlits made his last pass and over the top he went into the weeds....

...thats incredible! U were there? Amazing, I went thru about 200 pics so far. I saw Hemi Under Glass was around then, even a freakin pic with who knows how many inches of snow on the ground. Had to of been piles of snow up to a foot to two feet! And they still raced?
Is that a pic of Shirley Muldowny? My Uncle that's is his sixeties said he never even heard of PID. And my pops is like I think I heard of it. Its like a figment of our imagination!

In 1970, a go-kart type hydrogen peroxide rocket kart and drove it to speeds of over 180 mph. Notice everyone holding there ears!

A coworker of mine was telling me when he used to race inside three rivers stadium as well....pretty sure he held some record (i think it was national) in his chevelle...I think he ran in factory stock. It was great to hear him talk about the tricks it took to win at that level. You may have run into him back in the day even.
