    Motor swap in a 98 gt from a 4.6L to a 5.4L

Can it be done and how much of a hassle will it be? I Would like to find a Lightning engine for it and drop it in but just wondering if its do-able. Also where can I find a 5.4L for a reasonable price? Is it even worth doing?

5.0 magazine did a swap last year sometime. check their website. You should be able to search their archives and find the stories that show how they did it. From what I understand, It's not all that difficult.

We installed a 5.4 lightning motor into a 98 convertable a few years ago. I was a major pain to do with alot of custom parts having to be made. Your also going to have to buy another hood with a high cowel for the blower to clear. Also the car is going to gain alot of weight on the front with alot being up top. One other problem is the stock trany will not hold up long. We installed it on a midly build aod-e and it only lasted a month before it failed from all the torque. IMO your better off to do a PI head swap, or if you have your heart set on an engine transplant go with a DOHC setup out of a 96-01 cobra.

Yes it can, Terry up at streetlethal as done quite a few 5.4 swaps, he was even in MMFF a couple years ago for it. Edited to add yes it will stick out of the hood a good bit so you will need a big cowl hood to cover.
