Someone told me about making a MAF about this size of 70mm. Does this sound right?
Step 1:
Go to your local Junkyard, find a V6 T-bird.
Step 2:
Take out the mass air meter, purchase it. Mine was #35
Step 3:
When you get home, take off the sensor part of the T-Bird MAF. Discard it, it's of no use to you.
Step 4:
Looking down the MAF housing, you will see a vertical peice of wasted material, LoL. its just there and its in the way. Holding it up right, there will be a circle, this is were the contacts for the sensor sit when its put together. Cut out with the hacksaw, everything up to that circle part. You have to leave the circle, so the sensor gets a good flow of air. then just smooth out the opposite side of the houseing, so its nice and smooth, so the air isn't abstructed.
Step 5:
Take your FACTORY, MAF sensor for the mustang. unscrew the 2 screws that hold the sensor to stock housing and transfer the stock sensor to the new, modified, thunderbird sensor. Being careful not to mess up the contacts of the sensor. Tighten the screws.
Step 6:
Replace new setup into the Mustang.
When your done, you will have approximately a 70mm MAF sensor. And all you actually did is change the housing so it didn't restrict the air going into the bigger 65mm throttle body.
