Earler this year right after I had my car inspected I took my car out on the street to test out some new drag radials. After hitting 2 gear hard my car hit the rev limiter and the car shut off. I drifted to a stop and put the car in park...the car didn't move so I knew I didn't scatter the rear end. So I coasted about a mile back to my house and pulled the tranny. After getting the tranny out I was unable to remove the torque converter so I took it to my tranny guy. The tranny guy had to drill the "button" on the converter and tap it so he could use a bolt to push the converter off. After getting the converter out he pulled the pump and the hardened input shaft wich had a brass bushing gaulded on to it. after inspection the entire tranny and finding nothing wrong he tried to get the bushing off when he noticed the the shaft was in 2 pieces!
Its not that the hardened input shaft broke... its that it broke so cleanly it looks like it was machined..no chips, twists, cracking etc...clearly due to some kind of flaw
Pa Tranny's told me to send back the shaft and they will send another. and the torque converter got junked too!
