Question Gears!! I need some input.....

'94, stock, 5-speed, Vert. Trying to decide between 3.55's & 3.73's. Which way to go? Primarily street driven. May venture onto a strip to see what it's puttin' out every now & then. Had 3.55's before, and was happy with them, but I've seen a lot of Stangs here w/3.73's. Pros & Cons? Anything.

    Thanks,

    Jim

In that car 3:73 or 4:10! My 95 has 3:73, wish it had 4:10s. My coupe has 3:73s great match for my engine combo.....and a light car!

Minimum 3.73 3.90's would be nice to because of the shear weight of the drop.

Thanks Guys, I knew I would get some feedback on this one. The 3.55's were in my '90, and they were like night & day compared to the horrid 2.73's that were in it from the factory. That car tached @ 1800-2000 @ 60-65mph. So it didn't affect the economy much. But it was driven in a much less hilly enviroment too. So I actually got to use OD for extended periods of time. And still had a good bit of pull without downshifting. This '94 is a whole new ball game.

At least 3.73's, I would lean towards 4.10's personally.

    Thanks Guys

Well, it appears that the 3.73's have left the 3.55's in the dust. The 3.90's don't seem to be a regularly stocked item at most retailers, so it may take longer to get them. The other thing is, I don't want 1st gear to become utterly useless. I realize that the higher the gear, the quicker the acceleration, but I'm not too crazy about the 1/8 mile tracks, and I don't have any additional power at this point anyway. So I think I'll probably go with 3.73's. Now I just got to get all the "additional" parts that go with a rear-end upgrade/rebuild. Once it is opened up, I want to do everything at once. After that it will be the clutch & then springs.

Thanks for all the input, it helped quite a bit.
