Seems like you lost a keeper or the valve face broke due to too much seat pressure and too steep of a cam. ??? I doubt you floated it. I thought you had some pretty good springs on there. Unless you just did not have enough piston to valve clearance and the high reves got it. Call me later.

Well, its intake side, and the valve face is still in the set, so it stayed for a while. It ate something, how sepcific do we need to get? I'm thinking throttle body part, I've seen pics just like that from parts of the shaft getting eaten. Sure looks like FOD ;)

How could the entire combustion chamber have marks on it, there had to be some foreign material in there!!! what was your piston to valve?? It looks as if you slightly bent the intake valve and caused that chunk of guide to break off and enter the combustion chamber.........Better let me build it next time... I will give you a mercy price break.. oh and sorry to see this happen, deff sucks

valve sprigns are still intach. my cam isnt large compared to others with
408s. i had 13cc dish my PtV was good. theres a few Ls7s with the valve head breaking off clean like this did. after i looked at this pic i didnt think floating of valves and read on tech how quite a few cases have had this happen to them. wasnt high at all in revs, shift light at 6700

also exhaust valve is bent as well, parts of the valve guide were found in the intake and in the # 2 cylinder

maybe they can't handle larger than stock spring pressure... i don't have to much experience with the stock chevy valves... what is the stem diameter?? you can always buy bigger valves and get em cut to size..

Engine over-revved and dropped a valve. I've seen similar damage in an S2000 motor.

engine wasnt rev'd that high, valve stems are still attached to the springs and in their pockets

So I was right then? Valve face broke off due to high spring pressure and or weak stock type valve. Sound right?
