I was there. My 3rd year down at Mustang Week. I took the same route as you. 79/19/77. Stopped in Charlotte for the weekend, then off to Mytrle Beach on Monday. It was horribly hot later in the week, but it always is hottrip was good. never been to Myrtle Beach. don't think we'll go back. we got a helluva deal on a condo with some friends so we went. had a great time (drinking) but that damn place is way too busy. there are 3 lanes of traffic in both directions and it's bumper-bumper traffic 24/7. I waited for some stop lights twice. it takes 20 minutes to get to a restaurant that's 2.5 miles away. the Outer Banks in NC is more our speed. more laid back. I guess we're old or something. good deal, good friends, good food and drink and a few stangs to look at... so all in all a good trip.
EDIT: we did take the stang and went down 79/19/77 through the mountains which is a nicer view and actually quicker (9.5 hours) than I-95.
The stang did not like the trip at all. It's a Mustang not a Donkey and I packed him up like a donkey and whooped his ass, but he did great and Mr. Clutch is still in one piece after the stop-go traffic all week. hahahahaha
I took my car down and it has over 150K miles. Made the trip with no issues.
