    PRP alternative route from Pittsburgh?

    Hey guys

I'd like to bypass the parkway east-Murrysville construction and traffic and find a better way to get to the track from Down town Pittsburgh.
Looking at Mapquest the only thing that I can see would be to take the PA turnpike via Cranberry to New Stanton. Then take 66 up to Delmont back to 22.
Anyone go this route or is there a better way to go via the turnpike?

    Thanks
    Dave

but......... you have construction on rt 30 before Westmoreland mall, then that whole freaking fiasco in Latrobe at the Rt 30/981 intersection. This really depends on time of day, but I sit for 20 minutes to go 1/2 mile at the Latrobe intersection at quitting time.

I would go Turnpike to Irwin, route 30, toll 66 to 22 and then on in. New Stanton is okay, but a bit out of your way versus the short section of toute 30 from Irwin to 66. Actually, I would really go route 30 into greensburg, take 119 right out to new alex, but I'm not sure if you want to try some back roads to get there ;)

Take old 22 that's the way I go every day. It parallels 22 and there is no construction whatsoever. All you gotta do is take 22 to the Sheetz in Murrysville, go straight through the light at the Sheetz then make the first left, turn right at the stop sign and your on old 22 AKA William Penn. That'll take you all the way to 66, make a right at Carney's Corner and the exit for 22 is right down the hill.

But don't push it and watch out for speed traps. ;)

With the Parkway East intermittent/alternating closure, there is no easy way from the South Hills. :( Road construction all over the area.

Oh yeah forgot to add that part thanks Alicia

The problem is it drops from 35 to 25 for the last 1/4 mile before you hit 66. I got busted there two weeks ago. I've been trying to pay attention and keep my speed low there and I still find myself going 40 in a 25.

then take 28 to the highland park bridge, allegheny river blvd to 130, get back on the parkway at churchill...then pick back up with crushers directions...thats what i would do if i where you.

when i go to the garage (weekends) i go this way to avoid which ever side of the parkway is closed for the weekend...it's never both sides so you only have to go this route 1 way.

You can turn RIGHT (coming from Pitt) at murrysville sheetz, follow that road to the first 4-way stop, (blackthorn acres on your right) turn left, then turn left at the next stop sign. Follow that road (harrison city rd) and then bear right, the road will go left (90*) and another road intersects and you kinda just go straight onto it. Follow this road, up a hill, becareful of the hill haha. At the next 4-way stop sign, just past JKB tire (on the left) turn right, go up that hill, turn LEFT at the first road over the crest of the hill.

Follow that road, its windy, and hilly, kinda dangerous, go slow... When you come to a stop sign, turn left. The road bears to the right, turn OFF of that road, by going straight again, (to the left) driving by a golf course. Follow that road to the end which will put you right out at the end of delmont, past all the construction :) Turn right, and your back on new 22.

Sorry i dont know road names lol
