87-93 lower intake versus SN95 lower intake

Hello.

I have a 1995 GT convertible. The car is stock.

I was looking at buying a ported stock lower intake but it was ported from an older intake core from a 1988, I think.
I was told that such a ported lower intake can add 10HP.

Does anyone know if this older lower will work on my 1995 with the stock upper? I am concerned about the fit and clearance. My hood room is limited on this car.

As you may know, I am brand new to SN-95s. I belive that the Fox intake is higher and just wont fit under the tower brace.

Thanks. Yes, I heard that the fox's were taller but I was hoping that the lower was the same height but the upper would be the one that would be taller.

I'm 90% sure that the base is the same in terms of height. It will have an extra hole for the IAC sensor as the fox's had them in the lower intake where we have them in the intake tube between the MAF and the TB.

I would suggest NOT getting it though. I've been around mustangs for >10 yrs now and I can tell you that everyone I've ever known that ever bought ported stock parts replaced them with a better aftermarket alternative in the end. If your looking for a great bang for your buck intake, an edelbrock performer will work great with the stock heads and cam and it will still grow with you if and when you change them. The edelbrock performer will fit under the stock hood, even with the underhood blanket still in place. The upper intake on the 94-95's is the real restriction.

Thanks for the info and, yes, you are right. I would likely throw away the money + the gaskets + the labor only to do it better with an aftermarket intake setup. I was just chasing the ported lower to avoid any clearance problems. I have seen so many discussions that say that this or that "won't fit unless you trim the hood bracing" (whatever that means) or "you will need a new strut-tower brace" (which I can believe for sure).

Do you think that the TrickFlow Street Heat will also work or is Edelbrock the way to go - period?

It would be nice to know what my options are so that I can search for some used ones and such or watch for good deals on new ones.

Any information or resources that you have is most appreciated.
