I believe that motor is the most powerfull motor ford ever put in a production car. I saw one this summer in a pink t-bird at a show. If you think 4v 5.4's are wide you gotta see one of those in person.
This guy's a dreamer the cars worth 35K tops.
Dove sells New Cammers for 11K! Not 40 year old junk..

Are those all original ford parts?
The stuff in the 66 Galaxie is all Ford parts. The stuff listed above is made by Dove, who has been re-making 427 stuff for a good while now. Unfortunately, I believe their cast aluminum heads have a lot of bleed-thru problems due to
the porosity of the aluminum. I have heard their blocks are real good, however.
To run the SOHC heads, the block had an extra oil drain-back provided to get oil back down to the pan. Some racers (old guys, like Racefan, you know) would actually use the standard 427 wedge block and run return lines out of the back of the cam covers, mainly because the SOHC block was a rare piece.
Good thing the guy replaced the exhaust valves in the E Bay car, because the originals were hollow-stem, filled with sodium, for cooling purposes. Over time, the sodium would "eat" out the valves from the inside and you could wind up with the valve heads popping off.
The single 4 barrel Cammer was rated at 616 hp and the 2 x 4 engine was rated at 657 hp ! The SOHC engine would make more HP with just fuel injection (Hilborn style) than the Chrysler Hemi made with a supercharger. Connie Kalitta, yeah now with Scott and Doug, used to run a digger with the SOHC, seems like it was named the Bounty Hunter ?
I always wanted a Cammer in my '65 Galaxie, but nooooo ! I think about 5 BFX Galaxies were built in '65 for the Ford race team. Mike Schmidt out of Desert Motors in Arizona and Jerry Harvey, out of Paul Harvey Ford had one of those beasts. Don't know who had the other 3. Meanwhile, the Cammer was stuck in most of the '65 AFX Mustangs that kicked some butt with the Hilborn injectors.
There ya go, Colin !

2014 GT Premium - Sterling Gray Metallic - MT82 - Track Pack - Glass Roof - Recaro seats - Spoiler delete
12.76 @ 114.04 bone stock. Koni yellow coil-overs, BMR watts, LCA and LCA relo brackets, Borla S-type axle back.
1966 Coupe - 331 stroker - Bullet custom roller cam - cam and motor installed and dyno tuned by Rodeheavers Hot Rod - Astro A5 - McLeod RXT - 486 to the wheels - more fun than my little tires can handle
1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - currently NOT on jackstands
Ratt - Awesome data! Yea the oil return is an issue even with the standard FEs. When I put my Aluminum heads on my 390 Stroker, I drilled the return (wasnt easy taking a drill to $1600 heads). Other wise the valve covers would fill up (like it did with standard 390 GT heads).
427s FTW. Man Ratt you sure know your Ford history, Those 427s kicked butt everywhere they went, i think the biggest problem was just simple parts availibility, if you broke something it had to be special ordered or made, and always costly, if this wasnt true i really feel they would still be makin em today... I always tell people to take a look at a 4.6 or a 5.4, they are like the 427s little brothers..
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

Hey Ratt whats up. Yea Connie Kalitta was and is still "The Bounty Hunter" He is from my hometown of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. I remember when I belonged to the "Bearing Burners" hot rod club and they asked Connie to quit because he put a radiator on one of his Top Fuel Diggers, called the cops said he would be on Woodward Ave. at a time and try to stop him!!!!!!! When he started to run the national circuit before he hit the NHRA he had the names of people he wanted to beat painted on the back of the digger, and when he beat them he would cross off the name. Him and "Big Daddy" along with the "Snake" would battle every week. He only has one eye because of a clutch explosion but that did not stop the man. He is the one that got Shirley Modowney started on her way also. Hey Ratt you sell that Beast yet?
Actually, the wedge engine was pretty durable (like, good for 500 mile races and stuff !). The Cammer parts were the problem, for sure. A couple of teh '65 Mustang AFX cars ran the wedge engines vs the SOHC, and they represented pretty well.
I wish they had the good tires back then, so we could have seen what those beasts could really be able to do !
