Little video of my runs at PRP from 8-29-07 T&T

Here's a little video I through together of my runs from T&T the other night. It was the first time I raced my car at PRP since 2004! I know I have a lot of work to do yet, but I'm happy with the trap speeds thus far. The car is picking up over 27mph from the 1/8th mile on, so I know there is a lot left in it in the 1st half of the track that I'm not realizing yet. Hopefully with more seat time, better weather, and getting the car in "track form" I'll see these times drop a lot. My trap speeds are up almost 5mph over my previous best at PRP, and the DA was a whopping 2550' on my last run!

Damn I missed racing my car!

Thanks guys! I hope to get a lot more racing footage before old man winter comes around and spoils my fun!

Rob- I could only hope. I really didn't know what this combo would do, all I wanted was to not slow down, but to think that 115+mph trap speeds are possible with this combo has me very excited. I just hope I can afford to get the roll bar done before winter gets here so I can go and race at cecil in the fall. I also need to address this 2nd gear issue I'm having as I'm not going to obtain any decent ET's with the way it is now. 6 tenths for a gear change is WAY too much!!!

I'm running 4 yr old 315-35-17 Nitto DR's. Sad thing is I used to be able to cut high 1.6's on these type of tires. I don't know if I'm just that rusty, the tires got hard from sitting for years, or the track prep sucked but I couldn't hook up for shit. I was launching between 2500-3000rpms, but it was obviously too much. I'm going to relocate the battery to the trunk sometime (probably over the winter) to help get some of the weight off the nose, especially concidering I added >75lbs to it with the new dart shortblock. I'm sure that's not helping the traction issues any!

It wouldn't know what hit it with me rowing the gears! I'd gladly take you up on that offer, but I don't think you want it back in pieces!

Its funny you should ask Joe as I just weighed it on friday. I'm happy and sad about the results... its lighter than I thought which is good, but it also means I'm not making as much power as I thought. I weighed it EXACTLY like I raced it on wed., I even made sure the gas was the same. With me (I'm around 170lbs) the car weighed 3620lbs, and that was without the passenger seat in the car. I was thinking it was closer to 3700, but I forgot that I had removed the body kit and got a new hood. I know I can drop that conciderably with my bogart skinnies, lightweight battery, ET streets on my old 16" stock wheels, remove the trunk carpet, remove the rear seat, replace my leather lumbar power driver seat with my lightweight summit seat that I got last year, and run with 1/4 tank of fuel. My AC hasn't worked since 2001, so I've concidered yanking it too, but the black interior is definitely hot in the summer!

Rob- I doubt I'll make it man. I don't want to drive 4 hours there, make one run and get the boot and then have to drive 4hrs home. I'm trying my best to come up with a way to afford a roll bar before fall so that I can race at cecil.

Hey Paul, some food for thought:

Taking the best trap speed of 114.02 and the vehicle weight of 3,620 lbs. I arrived at a FWHP range utilizing two pretty *accurate* formula's.

    418-428 FWHP

That's about what I came up with too. I'd still be happy with that as a starting point concidering the compression ratio and other small parts I have, and the amount of tuning I believe I have left to do. That would be what, around 350 to the tire or so?

353-363 RWHP is what I am subjectively calculating Paul. The TKO is a parasite in comparison to the T-5. And the rest of the "street" orientated driveline components create more parasitic losses.

The increased stroke, i.e., torque producing, may be hampering the 60' in a sense coupled with the added ballast on the front end.

At what rpm did you shift the 302 with the cam from FTI in it?

Sounds great Paul! Once you tweak the AEM more, smoothing out the rough spots, etc., I'd be surprised if you don't add a few more hp. Pretty darned awesome for a NA.
