This has to be BS, no?

Watching a youtube video of some supposed rice when someone in the background insults how much a honda owner spent by saying:

"Ive gone 10.50's in a mustang for about 2000 dollars"

The context of the conversation implies that 2000 includes the cost of the car.
I know stangs are relatively cheap to go fast, but can someone demonstrate a combination in this price range?

The only thing I can think of would be some rediculously high shot of nitrous on stock internals where it would last for one pass, maybe two. It would explain why he talks in the past tense.

depends on if the parts were used or not.. you could find a nice cam and intake and port heads, big shot of spray, sticky tires and take ALOT of weight out. bascially racing with just driver seat and NOTHING else.

$50 Shell, Junkyard 460 and BIG shot of Nitrous? I think you could do that for $2,000.

thats the other thing I was thinking of. just gut the living daylights out of it until its a shell.

Im still leaning toward the statement being BS. Not that it cant be done, but rather that he didnt do it. saying he ran 10.50's to me means he has multiple passes consistently hitting that time. Cages to run 11.49 or quicker would eat a lot out of that 2 grand budget

LOL believe me I havent forgotten how crazy people are. After all I lived where it gets to -50 at night.

How does he know he runs 10.50's then? Kicked out of the track immediately after the run for no safety gear? Goes to a track where they dont care about teching in? gtech?

I've been to a 1320' track in Ohio where there was ZERO tech insp.

Depending on how (used), and how much (maybe already have wheels/tires) you buy,...i think 10.50's for 2k could be done.

Take Russ's car on here...remove the rest of the interior...add a j/y 460/c6, and a 200 shot...(it will live with a cons. tune)...and I think it's possible. Heck...you could even run it on the hoosiers.

Like Ed said it can be done. You can find rollers on e-bay with cages already in them for pretty cheep. If not you can buy an S&W roll bar kit and weld it in yourself for like $200. Then just track down a 460 big block and slap some used headers, intake manifold and carb, and a nitrous kit. A friend of ours had a simular combo, but granted he had over $2,000 with his heads and suspension and was knocking on high 9's. He ran that combo for around 2 years before changed over to a mod motor turbo combo.

It may be possible too with an '80's notch with a turbo'd blow through carb'd setup.
