abs sensor

Anyone ever heard of an abs sensor going bad if you put on oversized tires? I run 315/35/r17 in the rear. The tires do not come close to rubbing anywhere. Why would Ford tell me the sensor went bad because of the tires?

That is crap. The sensor may set a code in the computer if the tires rolling diameter is way off from the others but it won't cause the actual sensor to fail.

What size fronts are you running?

Comparing if you have 275/40/17 fronts and 315/35/17 rears you will see the diameter is so very close that it won't set a code for sure. Lots of Cobra guys run that size in the rear without issues. I have seen a lot of '03-04 Cobras and have never seen a failed ABS sensor. It's just a fluke if it's bad and not fault of the tires.

That is what I thought. A bad sensor is a bad sensor. Good thing I put the original rear tires on when I took the car to them. I was wondering how they knew I put different tires on the car though. Was not aware that the sensor could pick that up.
