    heads

im throwing around the idea of getting my twisted wedge heads fixed and ported, or just fixed and sell them to step up to a set of the R series heads.

my stock Twisted wedge ones flow 170cc Intake and the R series flow 205cc intakes.

i know bigger isnt always better, so i dont want to step up to too much of a head for my combo.

    my cam:

stock bottom end with a ported gt40 lower and cobra upper. made 448rwhp on the trick flow heads at 10psi

The 170 cc heads dont flow 170 cfm, that the size of the combustion chamber for each set of heads. The 205cc heads have a 205 intake runner volume, and they flow a good bit more than 205 cfm.
Get your 170cc heads ported by tea or foxlake and you'll make more power than what you'll know what to do with. Rurn the boost up on your current setup & make the extra power, easier & cheaper than doing the heads.
    Good luck!!

You're going to have a major Piston to Valve clearance issue with the bigger valves of the R heads and the stock pistons, so plan on changing out the pistons as well.

No offense Jay, but you are not even close to being in the same league as TEA or Fox Lake when it comes to head porting.

If your gonna do a T.W. cylinder head try the T.W. 185. The R-Series is a huge mis-match on a stock short block and would most likely require flycutting of the pistons. Give Brian Tooley a call at T.E.A. (1-330-634-2155) Explain your goals to him and I'm sure he will have you pointed in the right direction.

What is your labor rate on porting cylinder heads?

50 an hour. I can get a set of aluminum heads decent in around 4-6 hours.

WRONG, 170cc or 205cc is reffering to the port VOLUME, if you had a 205cc combustion chamber your compresson would be like 4:1 with dome pistons, most head have a 60-70cc combustion chamber, and yes the runner volume number is not the amount of flow

I do all my own port work and some for customers, the head on the left is about done, the one on the right is very far away..

Fox lake is getting my TFS heads and intake this winter. If you want, I can take your heads when I drop mine off.
