switching programs with car on?

The other day the car was running like hell, so I shut the car off, went to the other program. Even worse. 30 minutes of traffic on the way home, running hella-rich, trying to stall. Ugh.

I get home and swapped back to the old setting while the car was running. Does this matter? It seems like I'm stuck in the same bad program. The car is all rich, revving high, trying to stall, etc.

Does the computer care when you switch??

i knoq on my SCT chip im able to switch on the go

Ya, with my SCT chip I switch on the fly with the 00GT and the 91LX.

thanks guys.

the car has gone to all hell. 1800 RPM, running crazy-rich, and no starts after its warmed up. its running so rich that it doesnt even want to rev up from idle when im driving real slow (backing into garage, parking spots, etc). its dumping clouds of black smoke. i actually got stuck at south hills village last week for 2 hrs. ugh.

oxegen sensors? maybe the chip has a bad connection with the service ports?
