    how hard to swap a 351

    well im currently looking at a 95 5.0. it has 203k on it but its one owner, 100% stock and no accidents.

    i was wondering how hard to make it a 351? i know the deck and heads need milled right? what about motor mounts and tranny compatability?

    still have enough rom to add a blower later on?

    im only gonna consider getting it if the 351 swap isnt too hard (read too much customization and fab work)

    If I were to build another push rod motor car it would deff be a 351 base motor. No sence in going smaller, the parts cost about the same for either.

    MMFF had a "budget stroker kit" and it ran in the 700-800 range....i figure i could get a 351 short block done for about that.

    A windsor is pretty much the same as a 5.0 except for 1 inch of deck height, and no you dont have to mill or shave anything, all you need is a pan and headers, i have a new moroso pan i accidentally ordered for a customer i will give you a deal on...

    some things needed for a 351W swap

    * oil pan
    * 351 specific headers
    * distributor (height of deck)
    * balancer and flywheel (stock 5-Liter is 50oz. imbalance)
    * intake

    You building a Mopar?? 5.9?? No, 5.0 lower will not work because the increased deck height requires the requisite intake to have more width. Now, you could use a 351 GT-40 lower and use an upper from a 5.0 GT-40.

    Yes. No matter if it is a 5.0 or 5.7 EFI Intake, the Uppers are the same for both. The width of lower is the only difference between the 2.

    Also, with a '94-'95 you will absolutely have to have a new hood. Some have tried and managed to get the stock hood to work using HP drop solid motor mounts, but its EXTREMELY close. You'd still have to notch the hood and remove the hood liner. The 95 "cobra R" hood will work. I'm not sure what you do about headers and EGR though since the 94-95's have a tube that runs from the header to the EGR valve which si located on the inlet adapter between the TB and upper intake. A lot of guys just delete it (I have too) but it requires EEC tuning to do so properly so that a CE light isn't triggered.

    Get a 94-95, they're a great year to have! New looks with old school pushrod POWA!!!

    ive deleted EGR on all my stangs. always have the EEC flashed. ive seen a couple where they have milled heads and block to fit under stock hood....but ill just get a cowl or cobra R type. have something to back it up with. lol. im currently looking for a cheap 94-95 to have as my own project as i "think" ive finally got a garage lined up to work on it...but the car must be good enough for a DD too right now.

    Yes a mid 90's Lightning lower intake would be the ticket. Then, you could use a Cobra upper, GT40 upper, OR another style upper that has the GT-40 port configuration.

    The GT-40 are WAYYYYYYYYY overpriced no matter where you look. Personally I would go buy the Trick Flow R Intake for less money brand new. The Trick Flow R lower out of the box will outflow even a fully ported & welded GT-40 lower.
