    Oil pump

I'm putting together my 347 and i need some opinions and guidence. I bought a meling high volume oil pump for it but am using the stock pan. I've been told that this could cause the oil pan to be sucked dry and starving the bottom end. My buddy rebuilt his 350 in his vette and used a stock oil pan and a HV pump and toasted the bottom end. I was wondering if anyone has a set up similar and if anyone can back up this myth?

A high volume pump twisted the stock oil pump driveshaft in my junk like a pretzel. I would definitely make sure there was 5 qts. of oil in the pan and replace that stock oil pump driveshaft with a hardened one.

I've been told that you have to modify the block somehow.

i would have to say the best way to protect your investment is to have a high volume/high presure pump with a 7 or 8qt pan...
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

Yes. If you are going to run high volume you need 7-8 qt a pan. I made the mistake of keeping a 5 qt in a big block car w/ a high volume/ pressure and all the oil was in the motor - not in the pan.
