    Oil pump

I'm putting together my 347 and i need some opinions and guidence. I bought a meling high volume oil pump for it but am using the stock pan. I've been told that this could cause the oil pan to be sucked dry and starving the bottom end. My buddy rebuilt his 350 in his vette and used a stock oil pan and a HV pump and toasted the bottom end. I was wondering if anyone has a set up similar and if anyone can back up this myth?

A high volume pump twisted the stock oil pump driveshaft in my junk like a pretzel. I would definitely make sure there was 5 qts. of oil in the pan and replace that stock oil pump driveshaft with a hardened one.

I have the Meling high volume oil pump with an ARP pump shaft with stock pan and haven't had any problems on my 91.

The ARP Pump Shaft is the key!
