Well, a 70mm TB and 80mm MAF is a proven combo that will be optimal for 90% of the common 5.0 upgrades out there, which I can guess that is what your plans will fall under. With these, you would be able to use them with just about any combo you may be switching to later on down the road. Hell, it's your money, do what you want. Just offering some advise. Happy Spending!

BTW, the Granetelli is JUNK and the C&L's are just so, so.

Please dont spend the money on the B-303;)
Atleast get a nice comp cam, Camshaftinnovations is offering a $269 deal to pick an OTS comp cam for your exact combination. Worth atleast looking into.
I doubt you want to do a custom cam so IMO having an expert pick your cam would be the next best option.

Yes it will, all you need is a Fernco fitting from Lowe's and a small piece of pipe to fill in where your MAF is now. I did it on my 88 with the same CAI you have. The MAF will mount in the fenderwell.

Did you have the BBK fenderwell mounted CAI?

Support your statement with a thesis.

What cam is comparable to the B303 with the lope and idle it has?

Well if you are just looking for "lope" then there ya go! There has been a lot of testing of different combos - much better out of the box cams out there. I haven’t built a 5.0 motor a few years but I do remember that being one of least favorable options for a H/C/I set up.

I am at work so I dont have time to research but im sure you can find some data from tested combos.

Thanks Colin. I'll do some research.

Yes, I want the B303 lope/sound. If I can find a cam that sounds like a B303, but performs better then I will be happy.

Here is something that might work:

    B303
    Advertised duration: 284 intake/284 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 224 intake/224 exhaust
Gross valve lift: .480 in. intake/.480 in. exhaust
Lobe separation: 107 degrees intake/117 degrees exhaust
    Peak horsepower rpm: 5,100
    Peak torque rpm: 3,300

    35-324-8
    Comp Cams XE270HR

    Advertised duration: 270 intake/276 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 218 intake/224 exhaust
Gross valve lift: .544 in. intake/.5442 in. exhaust
Lobe separation: 112 degrees intake/? degrees exhaust
Edelbrock Performer Heads, BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers, BBK O/R H-Pipe, BBK Cold Air Intake, BBK Strut Tower Brace, Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back, FRPP King Cobra Clutch, FRPP 3.73 Gears, FRPP Chrome Cobra Upper/Lower Intake, FRPP Chrome Polished Valve Covers, Chrome Alternator, Ford B303 Cam, Holley Fuel Pressure Regulator, 70mm Edelbrock TB, 75mm Pro-M MAF, #24 Ford Injectors, Crane 1.7 Rockers

Cams are great. I am sure there are a lot of people who understand them better then me on here. There is a lot to know. Lob seperation is an important one depending on what you are going t do with the car. NA, boost, N20? Wider separation angles increase top-end power; closer lobe centers enhance low- and mid-range power. Depending on what combo agian, some cams have split duration. I have seen the 5.0 motors like the heavy exhuaust duration. The exhuast valve staying open longer balances the breathing patterns of these motors. For example - I have a split duration cam in the notch (and a new one waiting ) but in the 64 I have a single pattern cam. I belive you are building this keeping in mind that you may do a stroker motor?

I am building a stroker motor, however I will be getting all new parts for that motor.

Whatever I am putting on my current motor will stay on that motor and be sold as a whole motor (maybe minus a few things that I know I could use)

Unless you are converting to a carb set up, dont get the B cam. Keep in mind, those cams were designed many years ago for a carbed application. Actually, they were designed in the 80's. If you are going to keep with the stock heads, get a nice dualpattern cam. Some might disagree here but I have had excellent results with the TSF stage one cam. It has .499/.510 lift on a 1.6 rocker. I dont have any actual dyno numbers. You have been in my car, you know how it threw you in the seat with 1-3 smoking. If I were you, I would stay far away from any of the alphabet cams. The TFS cam greatly improves the exhaust lift and duration. Which is the weakest point on the E7 heads. If you have ever looked at the port, you can hardly fit your thumb in. Summit sells it for around 150. The PMASS 80mm is a good unit also. Mine is a 95mm calibrated for 44's. Be smart and convert to roller rockers too. Well worth the money and can be done with the heads on the car. Crane sells the kit for about 90 bucks. Rockers are naturally extra. In any case, if you are gonna build a stroker, dont wast your time with this motor. You wont even recover the money you are doing in temproary upgrades when you go to sell it. 5.0's are a dime a dozen. I got mine for less than 50 bucks. Dont cheap out on the fuel system either. I know you want to go with 24's. DONT!!! Go bigger.I was in the same boat as you. I thought they would be good. After Ed and I talked, I realized they would not be. Go with something bigger. It will give you room to grow on. Trust me. Changing from 24's to a larger one will be more expensive than you think. You will also have to send your mass air back to be re-calibrated.

I hate BBK throttle bodies!! They whistle all the time and they stick. Most 302 guys won't touch one with a 10ft pole. I have a 75mm BBK that I tried on my 91LX that I can't give away. The thing whistled at idle and would stick coming off of idle. All I can say is ACCUFAB!!
