    Exhaust leak?

The other day I noticed that when my engine hits 2,500->3,000 rpms theres a hissing kind of noise that I cannot figure out what it is. Does anyone have ideas?

i'd expect an exhaust leak to be more of a ticking noise than a hissing noise....

I agree... the exhaust leaks I have heard have been staccato ticks or pops that increase in frequency as RPMs go up.

A hissing sound would make me suspect a boost/vacum leak. Do you have a rough or floating idle condition too?

There are no idling problems at all. I had my sister get in and rev it up to the 2,500 rpm mark where the noise was generating. I got down under the car by the back wheel and the noise is coming right from the mufflers. The more I listen to it the more it sounds like a hissing/whining noise as if something was loose or rattling.
