Thinking of buying a F-150

I've come across a 1997 F-150 XLT that i'm very interested in... I looked at it last night and its MINT with just 74,XXX miles on it... What i'm wondering is, are there any issues with this model year or with this generation ('97-'04) truck?? Anything you guys can think of that I should look for before purchasing??

oh, and if tehre is someone with Carfax, let me know... Its a 2 owner car, but the 2nd owner is the original owner's son...

Only issue I know of for the 97-98 models has to do with a lug nut recall (if I remember correctly). My father has a 98 with the 5.4 and off road package....it has 89k miles 80k of which it's had a Paxton on it. Runs great!

i think i made a deal with the guy.... he has to check with his wife, but he sounded like he was gonna take it - so lets hope she gives him the "ok"....

pretty good deal imho, considering if he takes my offer, it will be for less than 75% of the NADA average retail value... whcih also gives me an interest rate break from the credit union! woot

Sucks that i'm now goign to have TWO car pmts... kinda what i enjoyed about the LT1 T/A... no car pmt on it was relaly nice... o well i guess.... time to start looking for a house sometime in the next year
