    Great deal on tires

my buddy at work just told me that there is $100 off if you buy 4 tires at Discount Tire Direct. $200 if you buy 4 wheels and tires. PLUS free shipping and no tax! I think this is a great deal!

I'm back to tire shopping again. :(

The Goodyear's that came with my GT got me through 17K miles which I then replaced with BFGs (KDWSs). Here I am, 10K miles later almost looking at wear bars. Handling, the BFG KSWS are decent. They were ok in the snow, but typical of all season tires. Still trying to decide if I want to go back to Goodyear, look into Cooper, go broke on Pirelli's....and Nitto's are waaaaaay out of my budget. Not to mention they aren't practical in our winters. Bottom line, there will be no "Hangook", "Yoko-ono" or any other asian-sounding tires on my pony. That would be sacriligous!

I used to be in the tire industry and can highly recommend Discount Tire Direct. I have made ALOT of purchases through them professionally and personally. Tirerack is decent as well however you have to keep your eyes peeled for closeouts in order to get any legitimate deals. Seems that Tirerack has taken the Pep Boys approach as of late....mail in rebates for EVERYTHING

You could also look at what i put on my LT1... they're Riken Raptor ZR's or something like that.... i forget where i got them online, but they were really cheap, and they're not a bad tire..... They're actually made in the Michelin plant, so

Although, i agree with the above, i looked at the Cooper Zeon's and they seemed liek a decent tire... If you like them, Cooper has a different line name (kinda liek my Riken's are to Michelin) which they make the same exact tire for a lot less... i can't remember off the top of my head what it was though... maybe Mastercraft?

I saw the Rikens in Summit and was wondering how good they were. Good to know they are decent. Especially for the prices...

Cooper makes Mastercraft you are correct! I got my Cooper Zeon 2XS's from a buddy of mine who owns a Mastercraft dealer. Never had a Mastercraft tire on a car, but I do have them on the wifes Escape. They are the AWT's. They ride great, look good and seem to be wearing fairly well!

Neil and I used to be in business together basically. He did the tire end and I did the Grunt stuff. Oil changes, brakes, Clutches, and motor work.

SV knows his tires. I just know how to burn them.

I saw the Rikens in the latest Summit catalog and noticed the item numbers began with BGF. Haven't verified it yet, but I suspect they may be BFGs? Like a sheep in wolf's clothing...

Regardless, I have been looking into Cooper and would be willing to give em a try. I still have time before I buy, so let the research and reviews begin...

My only issue getting tires mail order is, by the time you add on the mounting and balancing, you really aren't saving much. One reason why I didn't order from The Tire Rack 2 years ago. Nice to have time to shop around...

call around...there are quite a few places that mount and balance tires for $10/wheel (speed balanced). It's very rare when places beat Discount Tire and Tirerack as far as pricing goes. I personally would never pay more than $15/wheel for mounting, balancing, valve stems, & disposal.

If you're completely against mail order...price out some Bridgestone's, Firestone, or Dayton (firestone's off brand) tires online....go to Firestone and they'll match the price! Good Year, NTB, etc...won't
