I have always installed pedestal mount rockers. I have my first set of stud mount rockers. Is there link somewhere showing me how to correctly install them?

Are you using the stock E7 heads with the crane adapter kit? If so, then its easy as pie. BE SURE TO CHECK PUSHROD LENGTH!!

I am using a 302 block with AFR185 heads. I have the ARP 154-4205 kit and FelPro 1011-1 head gaskets.
How far down the stud does the rocker go? Does it bottom out on the stud? I think I understand how to measure for the correct push rod lenght by looking at the roller/valve stem contact. But without push rods does the roller just drop to the bottom of the stud? If not, and the rocker sits in the push rod and valve stem, the push rod lenght need to be correct before the rockers are installed.

The rocker goes on as far as it needs to go. It all depends on your geometry. If your valver are shorter then it goes down far, if they are longer, it does not. The most important thing is to get the contact correct with the rocker tip and valve stem. If it is off, you will have a very rapid valve guide wear and a possible broken stud. Picture the top of the valve as a clock. Draw a line from 1 and 5 o'clock and draw a line from 11 and 7 o'clock. This is the approxamate contact you want. There is much more involved and it kinda needs to be a hands on kinda deal. Start with the stock rods and go from there. This will get you in the right ball park.
