    Massacred a Civic SI

Was the newest model Civic SI. Looked totally stock and real clean. It was blue. The road was completely empty and I was sitting at a red light pretty late at night when he rolled up next to me.

I didn't really think much of it, figured he wouldn't try and it wasn't really worth it for either of us...the light went green and he went full bore, laying a little tire in the process.

I figured why not... I had my nitrous bottle open so I flipped the switch, put it to the floor, and sprayed him. The look on his face as I barrelled by (right after he power-shifted second and laid another small patch) was priceless. After about a dozen car lengths I let off. He wouldn't pull up next to me and turned off shortly after.

Cam, did you race some guy with a newer GTO with velocity stacks at the last flashlight drags? Was talking to some GTO guys tonight and they described a Cobra just like yours.

Also, FYI, the old Firebird finally died. Definitely got good use out of it though. :D

I tried, but he was having oil blow-by problems and didn't seem to want to race. I offered to race the last GTO he raced, but no takers. The only one that raced me was a red procharged GTO (didn't go well for him). Man that bird gave you some good miles . Wondered if you still had it!

Yeah, it definitely did me well. I dunno what I'm going to do with it now. It's in my garage, not running, all torn apart...I might donate to one of the local GM boys and see if they can do something with it.

Was that GTO blue? He stopped by my work last week if so. Sounds pretty mean, but I don't think it was running right at that time. Also, heard him say the rest of the driveline is stock.

They were saying it did 690 RWHP or something obscene like that. They did mention that he blew the dipstick out of the block at the FLDs and had to limp it home.

Owner told me it made 650 at the flywheel, or somewhere around there, as he wasnt completely sure.

who has an engine dyno in the area? Everyone I know of is a chassis dyno.

That would be cool if someone did. You could get a tangible drivetrain loss number out of your setup that way.

well i was hoping for a more exactly number on a specific setup. It would also make tuning a lot easier in some respects.

Not sure I follow what you are saying? What can be easier than tuning a car on an accurate chassis dyno? If it's a load bearing type like a Mustang Dyno or one of the newer Eddy Current type Dynojets, you can't really go wrong as they load the car just like being on the road.

It would just be fun to see what the engine puts out, then put it in the car and see exactly how much loss there is with that specific engine and transmission.
