After talking over my goals with Rick Anderson, he suggested the B-41. I'm looking to make good power between 2500 and 6000. I'm not looking for a real lumpy idle since the car is mostly a street car. Congrats on your great numbers!

Ain't no better advice than from the source. I have heard some good and some bad with TFS stage II deal. I have never made any comparisons with it on the dyno though. The lobes on that B-41 *should* have a more aggressive ramp rate than the TFS II and that should equate into some more power.
Thanks for the compliment. The peaks increased but more importantly the avg. power production increased as well. I was close to getting it back on the dyno this weekend, but the plan couldn't come to full circle.

Are you shooting for 400rwhp?
I'm pulling my engine this fall for a rering/rehone due to poor ring seal issues. I picked up a set of 1 5/8 LT Hooker headers for it real cheap. I am also considering a custom comp camshaft that is for sale. It was ground for a 347 through Bennett Racing, but it is a 110 LSA. I'm also thinking about a custom cam from FTI. Not sure which cam I will end up with, but I know the Stage 2 is out. Rick told me that cam specs are not as important as ramp rates and profiles. What I like about dealing with Rick is he spends a ton of time on the dyno and he knows which cams are compatible with the touchey 94 computers. I will look for your next post on your new dyno numbers. Good luck.

I'm not certain it would ever get to that point with the current configuration. Well, let me rephrase that, my wallet ain't big enough. To pick up maybe 15-20 rwhp it's gonna cost damn near $3,500.00 And that's a BIG maybe:o I'm running out of little shit to do. It's pretty funny when you think about it, the whole buggy is max effort and then there is the stock 302 short block:D
Cam choices are sometimes difficult because on one hand someone may want to achieve a certain power range and then again keep it streetable as in your case I presume. It seems as if the custom cam is the way to go and it's hard to beat em when a OTS hydraulic roller is in the upper $200's. But as you stated, there is much more to a bump stick than duration @.050" and lift values. I've read about some 347's that are near the 400 rwhp mark and retain driveability. Again, that is subjective in the sense that one combo may be tolerable to an individual and not to the next.

I would definately go w/ a custom cam/spring/lifter package.
Tell them what your goals are and let them work their magic.
400 rwhp w/ your 347 and the afr 185's should be NO problem.
im kinda biased towards www.camshaftinnovations.com
Jay's customer service is awesome!
Good luck on whatever you decide.
I recently had a falling out with Jay at CI. As a result, I believe he asked the moderator of SBFTECH.com to delete my userid and I can no longer access the site. I asked Jay to review some cam specs and offered to pay him to let me know if the custom cam specs would work well for my goals. He called me and told me to take my business elsewhere, which I politely told hime that I will do. Once I get my engine apart and am sure of the parts I will be using(Hooker headers may or may not fit), then I will be talking to Ed Curtis for a custom cam.

I've had a negative experience with at least two of the "custom" cam gurus. Mr. Allen failed to return several calls after we had discussed some of the goals and peripherals of my current junk He asks what kind of times it was running. I tell him at the time 11.3x's. I had a max. rpm figure in mind. He goes over the top on that and says some crazy rpm for a stock short block. I'm thinkin', I want this thing to last for more than 3 passes. Then another parameter I wanted to remain consistent was for it to be a hyd. roller. Well, that parameter was trashed in favor of a solid flat tappet I'm glad he did not call me back
FTI guy flames me when I join HC50. He claims my junk is some "figment of my imagination" That was I suppose my imagination somehow transcends telepathically onto youtube and photobucket in video form. You guys never knew I am really Criss Angel did ya MIND FREAK

My goals are to maximize AVERAGE torque below 6,000 rpms. I do 99% street driving and I want to build a very streetable NA EFI 347 that I could drive to Colorado without any worries of breakdowns. I'm shooting for max rwhp of 360ish. I also do not want a real lumpy idle. Oh yeah, and I want to do this without breaking the bank since I have 2 teenage sons that need to go to college in 5 years. Therefore, I am always on the lookout for used parts. PureStock - Thanks for sharing your experience with Mr Curtis. I'm a little soured on the custom cam guru thing at the moment. What I like about dealing with Rick Anderson is that he spends tons of time on the dyno with different combos and he knows what works with the 94 computers and what doesn't. He is also easy to reach and very easy to talk to and doesn't seem to have a huge ego. Rick told me the B-41 cam would be perfect for my goals. He also told me that if I wanted to go with 3.55 gears, that my B31(on my shelf) would be much better than my TFS2 cam with the 3.73's. I may go that route, but I do like the 3.73s. I found 2 people on corral running a B41 in a very similar 347 to mine and one guy made 400rwhp with it. Who knows if that is true or not, but it does sound pretty good to me and the guy did post his graph to back it up. Rick A. told me to ditch my TFS R Series and go with a Systemax 2. I listened to him and my car feels like it picked up 20rwhp from 3000 to 4800 rpms. Since his last advice was sound, I think I will keep listening to him. He is constantly testing new combos and there are tons of articles about his stuff in 5.0 magazine. GMkillr - your car looks absolutely awesome. I love the red and wish my '94 Cobra was also red.

Rick has a very good reputation in the racing world so im sure your gettin some good advice. Im sure you'll be able to get in the 380-400 range and still maintain good driveability. I just picked up some Mac 1 3/4" longtubes w/ 3" collectors myself, I just need to get a Dr. Gas 3" x-pipe, and some 3" straight through mufflers to dump and i'll be set!
Who's doing the re-ring job for you? You can pm me if you want.
Later bud!
Robert
If you are referring to the long runner TFS R series manifold I agree 100%. I did some dyno testing and on my particular combination that intake did nothing for the powerband anywhere. Not peak, not avg. not a damn thing. The Holley SMII is one hell of a design, too bad the excessive casting flashing and core shift is so prevalent. TFS stuff is top notch in that regard though.

Good luck with your header install. I just spent 2 hours wrestling with my driver's side hooker header. Jacked the engine up way off the mounts and still no go. My SFI bellhouse doesn't help and neither does the fact that my rearmost primary tube is rusted and seized up. The hooker's come apart and make installation easier. That is if they are not seized. I can't get the darn pipes apart. Oh well, that is what you get when you buy used parts. PureStock - Rick said the ports are too large in the R Series and it hurts the velocity and prevents efficient combustion chamber filling.
