    Need some input

Ok, I finally break down and get a set of wheels that look good on the car and when I get to mounting the last one, I realize, hidden beneath a wheel weight, a rather large HOLE in the rim. It doesn't appear as big in the pic as it actually is.

Now I partly blame myself for not looking a bit more closely, but at the same time, I see this as something that should have been brought to my attention. At the moment the wheel/tire still holds air, but when the tire is due to be replaced, the weight will have to be removed. Which is how I believe it got this way in the first place. I am concerned of the safety aspect as well. There is another wheel with a small segment missing which may have occurred the same way.

Is there any way to correct this, or do I need to start searching for a matching replacement, or 2?

    Thanks for your input.

    Jim

Don't trust it...buy a replacement. The tire is seated on the rim approx 1/2 - 3/4" below the crack in the rim. Hit a pot hole or a bump right and there goes your air pressure.

That is exactly what I was thinking. And driving around in the "Pothole Capitol of the World" certainly doesn't ease my mind any more. I've already taken them off and went back to the Tri-Bars. If I can come across a couple more I will probably grab them.

    Thanks Tim,

I'm not too sure what I'm gonna do at this point. I may just sell these and try to break even and find a different set. I just put 4 brand new tires on the Tri-Bars so I'm ok for now.

I'm gonna need to replace my clutch soon too so that may end up being a priority.

    Thanks again,

    Jim
