I just always seem to have plans. Cory's in town and we're supposed to meet up with her at 9:30 in the South Side. I am off Friday so I can meet beforehand?

My personal daily carry guns are a Glock 27 and a Kel-Tec .380. Usually have one in my pocket and the other holstered on my side. I also have a Kimber Tactical Ultra II .45 that I will carry in place of the Glock from time to time or have all 3 on me at once.

If you're buying a gun to carry for PERSONAL PROTECTION, DON"T BUY JUNK, unless you're willing to chance your life on a cheaper price. IMO a Glock is the most reliable make of gun that I have ever owned. I have a Model 21 that I take Quad riding with me and I have had it buried in dirt, water, mud, etc. and have never had it or any of my other Glock's jam. I have even shot my Glock 27 underwater and it cycled just fine.

As stated the Glock 23 (.40 cal.) is an excellent carry weapon as is a Glock 36 (.45 cal.) Personally I would go with at least a .40 cal since it packs more punch that a 9mm. Think about it, there's a reason that the .40 cal roiund became the acceptable round in this country over the 9mm for the majority of the police departments.

If you want to shoot a few different guns before buying one, you're welcome to shoot anything in my safe anytime. Only catch is you pay to feed whatever you want to shoot. I'd also recomend going to Ace Sporting Goods in Washington, PA to look at pistols before you buy one. They have just about every model made on display so you can hold and feel a wide selection before making your decision.

Holy dog shit. You carry 3 guns at once?

Anyway....on topic; buy whatever quality piece that you feel most comfortable with. Buy something you feel completely reliable using in a caliber you trust to stop an attacker.

Go the gun store and look at a bunch of quality guns. Hold them, dry fire them, see which feels most "right" and inspires the most confidence.

For semis, in my personal opinion Glock and Sig can't be beat. For revolvers, Smith and Wesson, Ruger, and Taurus all make fine pieces.

I carried for a several years (when I lived in the city) and my life depended on the Taurus M605 2" barrel .357 magnum I kept in my pocket. I don't carry anymore (since I live in the 'burbs now), but if I did, I'd go back to the Taurus (or any other 2" barrel Smith, Ruger, or Taurus revolver in .357) in a heartbeat. I personally strongly prefer the dead-nuts reliability, simple operation, and accuracy of a revolver combined with the proven stopping power of .357 magnum...that said, there are plenty of semis that will server you will (I'd lean towards a Glock 23, personally, if you're set on a semi. My first generation Glock 17 has never malfunctioned, and considering it has ~30,000 rounds through it, that says alot).

Whenever I am out for the night gambling or carrying large sums of money, yes. There's too many wacko's out there and you never know what you may run into. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I suppose that thorough preparation for an armed confrontation with a roving band of Contras, Mujahadin, Vietcong, or Mexican high-mountain bandits is your constitutional right. However, it's also pretty insane. ;)

I never claimed to be sane.

BTW, I was almost a State Trooper. I just chose not to take the job.

Less people will be injured if Colin carries this instead of a revolver or semi..TRUST ME on this one!

Hmm, interesting topic, i feel i must join...

As a Business owner I feel its a necessity to carry, I personally carry my S&W M&P .40 EVERYWHERE the law allows, on the back burner, and my past carry unit was my Sig p6 (9mm), this is actually my favorite piece. The P6 was manufactured in 1980, and was designed for law enforcement (No Safety) I sent this Gun out for some regular maintainance and the MP that was doing the work offered to buy it on the spot, haha. Both guns are fully loaded with HydroShocks at all times, and ready for action.

If youve never owned a gun, or carried before id suggest going downtown 1st to file for you concealed weapons permit since it takes about 3 weeks to get. You can head out to the gun shop the same day to purchase if youd like, but id look into a Pistol Safety course as well, it could never hurt to be properly trained to carry.

Anyways my S&W is a bit much to carry (Weight wise) so ive been in the market for the G27 (glock) ive held this gun a million times before and cant wait to go purchase it.

I agree with what was stated previously regarding the reliability of the weapon, make sure whatever you do get, works when you need it to. would truly suck to draw, and not be able to fire.
    just my $.02
