Holy smokes!! Even if it was 12.0:1 or leaner. It wasn't detonating during many many tests. Regardless, its was well within the generally accepted "safe zone" as Nate stated. Why get into arguments over speculation, when that might not be the facts yet. Bottom line is I trust Nate enough to refer other people to him. That says a lot. Bish miss states a lot of things cause he's not a tech. Not trying to personally insult Bish, but because of his ignorance he sometimes makes people that are doing proper thing look bad.

Turbo cars are generally run a little more rich due to the heat they retain in the cylinders from exh. backpressure pre-turbo.

But if the car responded to pulling out fuel then that's a good thing. :)

I don't know much about LS1's but i think the combustion chamber design is pretty efficient....that said...13deg timing seems plenty conservative to me.

Hope you're back on the road soon Bish.

You guys are mistaking knock from running lean, knock is from timing at certain a/f values. In theory there is a safe point for all a/f ratios and octane rratings if your timing is set properly.

Cars can run lean and melt and never knock just as much as cars can knock and be damaged from running rich as well.

well, like i said, the typical setup like this is running 17 or 18* of timing, so this is very conservative in the timing sense.... As for the rest of it, i never claim to be some know-it-all like Quik, so i just go off of what TPG says.... if he said it was ok, then all i can do is assume it was fine... when it comes to tuning, i don't think theres any better ... that's why i went with him to do it...

Thank you... i hope so too!

    IMO.
I was going to say this as well. Run it rich and lean won't cause detonation unless the octane is borderline already.

Personally I wouldn't look to run a combo making that much power on 93 octane. Too many bad things happen once you are on the street under a real load and you get a bad batch of gas.

Get a wideband O2 installed in that car and watch it like a hawk. Never run it over 11.5 A/F.

Use good fuel (100+octane) in it, keep the timing conservative, and you will be fine.

    wideband is already in it....

i've had him order a meth/water injection kit.... that SHOULD take care of any problems with bad gas/octane (from what i hear)
