    My nice notched pistons

These are 87-92 forged pistons in my "other" shortblock that I have laying in my garage. From what I understand they still wont hold a set of AFR 185's w/ my cam. So what to do, what to do........?
Sell the completly rebuilt shortblock that has arp main studs, and a trickflow girdle or get rid of the heads.....??

i would pull the pistons and have em notched, then have the rotator balenced..

alot of variables there.Basically it is how fast you wanna go.

    What size is the cam?

    why not change the cam?

just all depends on what you wanna do and the money you wanna spend

Or you could rent the isky tool and notch the pistons your self. It's not hard but it does take some time.

I would change the cam but a new cam will cost another $400 that I dont want to spend cause this wont be a permanent build, just one to hold me over till I can get a Dart 347.
Im afraid of notching the pistons to far cause of the thickness.....
Maybe i'll just sell the AFR 185's... I dont know....

I notched the ones in my 86 shortblock. I took .200 outta them with ease and a 100 and 150 shot never found a weakness. I've had a few friends who did the later pistons and had no issues either.

I've notched them in place using a cutter. I taped the deck & cut them in place, stopping frequently to measure & vacuum out the chips of aluminum. It's time-consuming but, doable. Take your time, measure and measure again.
