I'd say at least $3,000 for anything remotely decent and $6,000 - $8,000 for a top notch job.

Those prices have little to do with how bad the paint currently is. The last car I painted, I had over $1,000 just in the material. I always laugh when I hear people say that so and so is painting their car for under $1,000.
