    Jeep Help?

Ok, well my moms jeep has been acting weird lately, and when i went to park by my house last night, smoke/steam was coming out from under the hood (not alot) but enough to be noticable, it looked to be coming from the front of the motor, and smelled like anti-freeze really bad, any ideas to what could be wrong? lately its just been shutting off at random spots when stopped also, jeep has like 143k on it, and its a '97

any ideas to what could be wrong?

    1. wild animal : a carnivorous animal of the dog family that has a sturdy square body, large cubic inches, a wide RPM range , and comes in many colors. Foxes are found throughout most of the world and hunt alone, mainly at night, relying on cunning and an acute sense of power and acceleration. They feed on mostly small rodents like rats(BBC) , mice (SBC) and snakes(Cobras).

well.....radiatiors are in front of the motor.....and antifreeze/coolant might be leaking out? have you put more in when it does this? could the jeep stopping be some sort of safety measure on the car so that when coolant runs low it doesnt blow itself up? those are my guesses man

those are the same exact things, i was thinking, i told her the radiator might be bad, and not pumping coolant, therefore the jeep is overheating an shutting itself off before it blows up...

thats kinda weird. my mother also has a 98 jeep and she too was smelling antifreeze. i took a look at it and there was a little antifreeze spraying out form behind the top pulley. turns out it was the waterpump. the bearings went out of and it started leaking. a brand new one from advance auto was 38 bucks and it has a lifetime warranty.
