    Another Jeep Problem

Ok, well if you read my other thread you know that my moms jeep has been shutting off at random points, and sometimes smoke comes out from under the hood (not very noticeable) also even if the let the vehicle sit for days, then take the radiator cap off, it still bubbles out everywhere, and it looks like a milkshake, its brown, and chunky... anybody know whats wrong?

your radiator is probably shot.....when's the last time the rad was flushed/checked? Get up underneath it and see where it's leaking. When you pop the rad cap off....is the rad fluid foamy and sticking to the cap? If you change the oil yourself....check to see if there's any water/coolant floating on top of the drained oil.

Unless it's a HEMI I'm pretty sure the 5.7L was only a option in 96. Does it have the louvers in the hood?

Yep, the good old 5.2L (318) was the V8 before they went to the 4.7L. If it was the 5.7L it had the louver hood above the strut towers. Could of been 98's it was the option, but I'm 99% sure it was only offered as a option for one year.

the 5.9 was standard and thus only available on the "5.9 Limited" for the 1998 model year. Made for a very quick Jeep!! I haven't heard of any issues with head gaskets on any of the V8 equipped Jeeps...only the 4.0's. Doesn't mean it can't happen however!

    Unless you're talking diesel, you're confusing your Mopar's & Chevy's...

    5.7 GM (or Cummins Diesel)
    5.9 Mopar

Cummins Diesel in a grand cherokee...now that could be fun!

Just an idea, make sure the alternator is working properly. I have seen Jeeps with bad alternators that won't run because of a lack of voltage. My shop had a Jeep that would shut off when ever it wanted and it turned out to be a bad ECM.
