I'm with the rest of you... I ride (rode) because I enjoy it, but I can't justify buying a certain overpriced (ego-driven) brand and I can't justify buying a Japanese Cruiser. Basically, I'm 4ucked right now. ???????????????????
me as well... i wave to pretty much everyone... if they don't wave back, i dont take it personally, but i atleast make an attempt to get my hand out there.... it just became a natural habit that i don't think about anymore... been doing it since i rode bike for the first time with my father (i was probably 5 or younger) - just became habit

In my days of the bike shit, I knew a local 1%er to be the assassin in his local chapter of whatever organization he belonged to. They were all 1%ers by the AMA, but it ment something else in local chapters. If they were wearing the patch, BADASS!!!! The other mark of the assassin was the teardrop on the dude. Again BADASS!!!!!! Anyone know what the Red 13 patch stands for?

LOL. I only 1/2 assed knew what I was talking about, but you really lost me here.
I was referring to MS-13, the gang made up of about 100,000 Mexicans, Columbians and Hondurans that is ruling the cities in our country.

Who actually compared performance of a Vrod to a CBR?

My 600 Ninja will flat-out rape a Vrod in every performance category. Quarter mile, cornering, braking, top speed, you name it. Nearly the same HP with half the weight and half the cubic inches. There is NO comparison when it comes to stock for stock at any track. Any harley enthusiast deluded into thinking so is under the influence.

That being said, Harleys are way cooler and have a lot of awesome going for them. I nearly bought a Denim Street Bob early last year. I just wouldn't have wasted my time thinking it was fast, because some punk on rocket would show me up, probably one handed and riding a wheelie. :)

I agree with you here dude, but it's kinda like comparing apples to oranges. For flat out performance a 600 Ninja has it all over the V Rod but if you want a Harley with some real guts the V Rod is it.

Hard to compare the two kinda like a '03 Cobra vs. a Cadillac CTS

Both fun but two way different purposes.

May have been because I said about a vrod in my earlier message. Wasn't trying to compare my cbr to a vrod or say the vrod was a better bike or faster than my cbr. I was just saying that I would have one if I was riding a Harley instead of a cbr. To me it's the pick of the litter

Agreed. Just seems like the tone of that one post was performance-oriented, which is ridiculous to even compare.

Quality is a toss-up. The jap motors are held to much tighter tolerances and you can generally flog the piss out of them for a long time with minimal maintenance and they keep ticking. Harley still isn't out from under the shadow of the perpetual maintenance, perpetual oil leaks, general quality issues. Of course, you can say they're more comfortable (now that the motor is rubber mounted) and built like a tank, and that would be true. The plastic deathrockets aren't comfy or beefy, but they seem to be held together for the long run better.

But as far as cool factor goes, image, status, whatever you want to call it, the HD wins hands down. It's the one untangible trait that HD has that nobody else does and honestly is the only thing even making them a comparison to most buyers. On 90% of points, the equivalent jap bike will always be 'better'. But it will never, ever be a real HD.

Saw the black Rocker C today while I was out there. I gotta tell you that bike doesn't do too much for me. I would need to put another 4-5 grand into that thing to make it look halfway decent. This is of course just my dumb opinion.

    Clark were you working today?

Ah what the hell, i love most sportbikes, with exception of the green kawasakis... and honestly not a huge fan of the very late model gixxers and they're tail section... i absolutely love my bike, and i wouldnt sell it for anything... but i would add to the stable if i could! :)
you must of got that anything.. haha dont worry its getting taking care of.

But the buell's IMO is the best combination of bike. Those look awesome and have that deep tone and the curves are just amazing. But i rode a harley once and cant wait till i get old enough to afford one. I figure with a year or two over in iraq i will be able to pay cash for one and just store it until i get back.
