    Car Painted

I have decided to get my 02 gt painted, I was going to get the one side redone to scuffing it up. they wanted 1300 to fix the one side. I got a price of 2500 to get the whole car repainted does this sound like a fair price.

Sounds pretty good. On my last car i had it repainted with a kit installed and it was close to your estimate.

I am a painter and the costs of everything are going up these days for $1000 you get what you pay for ( over spray,no color sanding, the cheapest paints possible). $2500 is about right if there is'nt a alot of body work and prep involved. go with a shop that has a good rep and you should be happy.

Agreed considering the dam paint & supplies will run you close to $1k.

Yep, the prices have really climbed in the past year. Just got a pint of R-81 red, it was 75.00. Figure, there is 8 of those in a gallon.

Doesn’t sound bad at all! Your going to spend a G for good supplies unless you are going with some old school one step. I woulnt do that unless you were going for a 100% origional restoration. Even my yellow 60 ford the base clear and everything was about 900 in supplies.

2500 for repairs and paint - Good deal if it looks great!

I wasn't knocking you or your work by any means. Paint and supplies are expensive....add labor into the equation and a "quality" paint job even for a Geo Metro is gonna cost a nice chunk of change unless of course one does the work themself. How long does a $2500 paint job last??? All depends on the products and quality of prep work that goes into it.....one typically gets what they pay for! We've all seen good and bad work so the bottom line, choose a reputable shop with a proven track record and you can't go wrong! Oh and stay away from Maaco and Earl Scheib!

I will be looking for a paint job for my 94 cobra in the next year or so. Please post up the shop names and whether or not you were happy with the quality of their work. I heard from my engine builder that a shop on Mt Nebo Rd does good paint work - I think the name is Cotter/Kotter. I also need a cheap, low quality paint job for my DD '98 Accord with major delimination of clearcoat all over the car. It looks horrible.

macco burned my 89 gta turbo they bumped a switch that I told them to stay away from ( a switch to activate a solinoid) it stayed on got hot and murrysville/monroeville macco lost a paint bay in the process. I had no trouble from it because I wrote on the agreement to NOT TOUCH the switch. they gave me market value for the car . x2 on a reputable shop a good base clear paint job with good prep and paint should have no problem lasting 7-10 years with no issues.
