I use a plain old Autometer shift light with pills on my Capri. I really like it for bracket racing, when the light comes on, monkey moves the lever ;) I never really even look at the tach after launch. I'm not sure I would want that "warning" with the progressive shift lights, I like it to scare me. Besides, with mine it happens pretty quick :D
I guess I'm no help on the one you are looking at beyond saying I wouldnt be without a shift light in my stuff. I only have the factory tach and the shift light.

I have the summit one in my car. It is not a tach but it does have adjustments on the back from 3k to 12k rpms.
