    This won't happen again

Well I got the motor apart after losing oil psi at the 1/8 mile. It wsa just as I expected a broken oil pump shaft. It will be replaced with a ARP shaft this time lol. The good thing is that the bearings look great.

Holy crap, cant beleive it twisted that far.

There still has to be a root cause betond the shaft itself. Did you pull the pump appart?

I pulled one out of my 88 coupe that was twisted like that but not broken. I replaced it with an ARP one and it was fine till I sold the car.

I think it twist a little bit each time I hammer it until it finally breaks. The pump is only about four months old which was about a 1000 miles and 80 passes down the 1/4 mile and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Lou you said the ARP was fine until you sold it. Do you mean it broke after you sold it or that you just dont have the car anymore?

Thats amazing!!! Looks kinda neat actually. Ford needs to come up with something else foe this. Chevy uses a 1/2 diameter rod. Why cant Ford do something like that?

Gotta ask 1 thing. Was your oil cold? Reason I ask is because I have 80psi idling on cool/cold oil. When it warms up I have about 58-60 psi and when I run it hard with warm oil it goes to about 85-90. That shaft worries me like crazy!!!

That right there is why I put an ARP shaft in my new engine. I've seen this a bunch of times with stock/stock replacement shafts.

Yeah I run the motor cold and thats probably contributed to the problem. I broke the same part last year with the motor being cold also. Anyone running a stock one and making any power I would recommend replacing it with a good one.
