    Tire Size

What would be the maximum (widest) tire I can put on my car, with it being stock.

Standard size is 225/55ZR/16. I believe the 55 number is the width and I was wondering how low I can go to make the tires as fat looking as possible before I run into rubbing issues?

    55 is height...225 is width.

i have always ran 245/50 on my 7.5" rims and they were on my old fox 7" rims too

Let me clarify. The back won't be an issue, but I am more concerned about the front tires becuase they will be turning

Don, the ones I let you borrow were 245/50/16's. Let me know if you wanna borrow them again, we can bolt them on the front to see if they rub for you. They rub a little on my 85, but I think the 91-93 cars have a little more clearance on the front

The '91-93's do have some more clearance. I had 245's on my '89 with 16's now I have 245's with the 17's. No rubbing. Only rubbed when I put the QA1 K-member in.

225/50/16's on the front 245/50/16's on the rear , on ponys looks mean I ran a 87 hatch that. I never had an issue with rub or clearing the inner fenders until I lowered it 1" front and 1.5" rear . I had to take a bit off the front of both inners but the rear still was fine.

thats how i sold my 91 actually (needed tires and got some 225 from a member here)...even lowered. of course the 91-93 have bigger openeings in front fenders so i had no rubbing issues at all.
